Jim R Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 The venerable 86,000-seat stadium on the campus of Stanford University, built in 1921 and the site of a number of important events in US sports history (including the annual Shriner's East-West football classic; the US/USSR track meet in 1962, Super Bowl XIX, and several World Cup matches in 1994 and 1999), is being razed to make room for a new facility. A lot of memories for me there... http://www.stanfordstadium.com/ There's a historical image gallery, and even two live webcams showing the status of the demolition... Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Sorry I missed it. Wish they'd tear 'em all down. (no smilie) Quote
Big Al Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 A lot of memories for me there... I felt the same way when they tore down old Arlington Stadium. Quote
BruceH Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 I hope they put up one with one of those nifty retractable domes, like in Toronto. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 Wow. Glad they waited until I moved. (Though I'd agree with Chuck IF they promised not to rebuild them...) Quote
