Harry Pepl, one of Austria's most original jazz guitarists, died last Monday in a Vienna hospital at age 60.

I knew him primarily through his brilliant collaboration with vibist Werner Pirchner - they recorded several albums including one with Jack DeJohnette for ECM, and the group Air Mail, which featured some of the best Austrian players with US bassist Mike Richmond.
