sheldonm Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 A friend just sent me a note indicating the Lakers, Pacers and Raptors may be making a big swap today with Artest and Jalen Rose going to the lakers....not sure of additional details at this time. m~ Quote
Dave James Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 Geez, who do the Lakers have that would make this interesting? Odom's stock is way down. George? Draft picks? Not sure I see how this works for the Pacers and Toronto. Of course, in spite of this, it wouldn't surprise me a lick if Los Angeles came out of this much stronger, even if it's at the expense of the other two teams. We all know how desperate the NBA is to have a contender in L.A. Up over and out. Quote

We all know how desperate the NBA is to have a contender in L.A. Rumor regarding the other teams: Toronto get Croshere from the Pacers & some other Laker. Pacers get Devean George and a Raptor draft pick. But another rumor site mentions the TWolves are in talks, so who knows. It was a San Antonio paper that started the Laker-Raptor Artest trade. As a fantasy owner of Artest, do something! Quote
ejp626 Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 That's absolutely what the Lakers need - two more talented but troubled and selfish players (perhaps Artest isn't as selfish on the court as Jalen). I think every game would be a potential meltdown. Quote
Quincy Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 From Rotoworld: "Indy Star reporter Mark Montieth was on WNDE 1260 radio in Indianapolis this afternoon and said that the report about Ron Artest and Jalen Rose going to the Lakers is not likely and that it was a case of 'poor journalism.' Montieth went on to say that a trade with Denver was more likely, with Nene being the centerpiece of the deal. It sounds like Artest will be moved in the next two to three days, but Donnie Walsh and Larry Bird aren't about to tip their hand as to what they are working on. As for the Jalen and Artest to the Lakers story, it's still a possibility, but it doesn't sound probable as of right now. If nothing else, it sure livened up the basketball world today." Quote
PHILLYQ Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 The big problem with having Artest, Rose & Kobe Bryant on the same team is that there's only one ball! Artest is very talented, but a major head case. Any team that gets him is taking on a lot of risk in exchange for the talent. Quote
BruceW Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 (edited) Yeah, well don't put it past Mr. "Get anybody" Kupchek to pull a deal and let the coach worry about how to use him. Look at the Kwame Brown trade??? Hell, look at the Odom trade???? Hell, look at the Lakers..... :bwallace2: Edited December 30, 2005 by BruceW Quote
BruceW Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 (edited) What about Kobe??? Lakers got rid of Shaq, Kobe was happy then mad at no talent left on team... Lakers got Odom, Butler, Atkins and Jumaine Jones.....Kobe got mad again, no Butler, Atkins or Jones..... Lakers got Brown and a few others...... Kobe is fuming mad now..... who goes...... What is wrong with this pattern....... Will Kobe every wake up????? or should I say Mr. Buss Artest and/or Jalen Rose is bad bad news for Lakers and is not the answer. Laker fans need to be patient and allow for some of the talent to develope (not Brown though). :bwallace2: Edited December 30, 2005 by BruceW Quote
chris olivarez Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 I just don't see Kobe and Artest peacefully co existing. If I was Kupchack I'd pass on this one unless the plan was to force Phil Jackson into retirement. Quote
Dave James Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 How about that gal in Colorado? Up over and out. Quote

Guest akanalog Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 artest is killing my fantasy basketball season. he's just sitting there taking up space and not contributing. i hope he is moved to minny. that is the best spot for him to shine. lakers would be ok but i don't see that he is really any better than odom (though i guess odom and kobe aren't friends these days which counts for a lot). but i don't get what indys deal is-they have been losing some games. the artest distraction/wasted roster spot is hurting them. why not end the saga and make the move?
