Guy Berger Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Did anyone see this segment on Monday night's Colbert Report? Very funny. You can watch the segment in question here under the title "Glaring Omission". The original segment is here under the title "Truthiness". Guy Quote
BruceH Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 Yes, I saw it. Not only funny, but very "grippy" as well. Quote
Guy Berger Posted January 17, 2006 Author Report Posted January 17, 2006 Yes, I saw it. Not only funny, but very "grippy" as well. It's somewhat erratic, but I'm starting to think that at it's best the Report is better than the Daily Show. Guy Quote

Guy It seems that the writers are getting in the groove and making the show more and more consistent. "The Word" segement is a can't miss for sure! Quote
Jim R Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 It's somewhat erratic, but I'm starting to think that at it's best the Report is better than the Daily Show. I think John Stewart is a cool guy, and he's good at doing interviews, but I've never really found him very funny. I think he has a good sense of humor, but there's something about his delivery that doesn't work for me. I think he laughs too much at his own jokes, which aren't always worthy, imo. Anyway, I've always thought Colbert was funny, and I've enjoyed a number of the other "sidemen/women" on the Daily Show, even back when Kilborn was hosting. The trouble is, I've forgotten their names. I found this list, but it's not complete... anybody remember who the reporters were back in the Kilborn era? Jon Stewart as Anchor Lewis Black as Special Reporter Frank Decaro as Special Movie Reporter Nancy Walls as Correspondent Steve Carell as Correspondent Stephen Colbert as Correspondent Rob Corddry as Correspondent Mo Rocca as Correspondent Ed Helms as Correspondent Lauren Weedman as Correspondent Quote
Jim R Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 Found another name- Vance DeGeneres, but there was another guy (reporter) back in the early years whose name is escaping me... Quote

Jim R Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 Here we go: http://www.tv.com/the-daily-show/show/1293/cast.html I think maybe Brian Unger was the name I was going for. Quote
JSngry Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 Whatever happened to Patti Rossborough? Quote
md655321 Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 Brian Unger was always a fave, he now does some stuff on NPR's Day-to Day. He has a podcast of it on itunes, definitely worth checking out. I wonder what happened to people like A. Whitney Brown, Beth Lettleford, Lizz Winstead and the like. They were all great in the Kilborn era, and really set the tone for the whole show. So many of the correspondants since just rip off their comedic pace and questioning style. Quote
ghost of miles Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 I wonder what happened to people like A. Whitney Brown, Yeah, what did? I was a big fan back in the day... Quote
Jim R Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 I wonder what happened to people like A. Whitney Brown, Yeah, what did? I was a big fan back in the day... He was always about writing... delivering those well-prepared monologoues. Maybe he's still writing for somebody. Beth Littleford was good. I'm surprised she didn't get a sitcom or a sitcom role (maybe she did... I don't watch sitcoms ). "Patti Rosborough" isn't ringing any bells, nor is . I must have missed her... Quote
Jim R Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 "Patti Rosborough" isn't ringing any bells I DO remember John Roseboro, however. Quote
BruceH Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 Vance DeGeneres was great. I hated to see him go. Quote
