BERIGAN Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 Well I'll be. Granted, it was back in 2000, but still, I wouldn't have thought she was this smart.... http://www.salon.com/tech/feature/2000/06/14/love/index.html Quote
DukeCity Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 You think she wrote that speech all by her ownself? Quote
BERIGAN Posted February 13, 2006 Author Report Posted February 13, 2006 You think she wrote that speech all by her ownself? Perhaps Kurt wrote it for her a few years back... Quote
clifford_thornton Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 Well, she was smart enough to use Kurt for her own ascendancy, so why not? Pretty interesting article; I'll delve into it more when I have time. Quote
Robert J Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 (edited) Probably had a speech writer. But who knows? Just before this article was published, she starred in a movie with Ben Affleck - 200 Cigarettes - so maybe his intelligence rubbed off on her. Reminds me a bit about Steve Albini's rant from 1993. Albini, of course, produced Nirvana's In Utero Edited February 13, 2006 by Robert J Quote
sheldonm Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 ....not a big "Courtney" fan but many valid points. m! Quote
PHILLYQ Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 Maybe she did this BEFORE her drug use got out of hand. She may look the dumb blonde, but she may be a sharp cookie. She certainly makes a lot of valid points there and makes me respect Ani DiFranco even more for doing it herself. Quote

The "record company" clearly has the upper hand but the band made a bunch of side deals and paid the price. They also decided to sign the contract. Quote
jlhoots Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 I'm not sure what this has to do with anything, but she was really good in that movie where Woody Harrelson played Larry Flynt. Quote
