Guest Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Hello, I was wondering if anyone could reccomend something similar to the soundtrack to Ralph Bakshi's Wizards (if anyone knows this?) the score is kind of a mix of funk, prog, pysch, and dark trippy acid jazz. A lot of wah guitars, trumpets, organs, dirty 70's bass (ala Geezer Butler). Thanks very much. Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 don't know this score ... altho i have always liked Wm Stout's poster art for the movie. Charles Earland is, I believe, on the soundtrack to Bakshi's Crumb rip "Fritz the Cat". May be that you are looking for some 70's Prestige sides? Boys!? Quote
Guest akanalog Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 earland did a soundtrack you might like-his soundtrack to "the dynamite brothers". but i think it might be a little too swinging at points, though. worth listening to. that's charles earland. oh actually you seem to be liking trumpets and stuff so check this one out. i would recommend checking out roland kovac's "the master said". not a well known album, but one of my favorite. trippy organ music. http://diregarden.com/god065.html roland kovac has another one i like which isn't as trippy, "love that" but it is still pretty spaced out for organ music and pretty good. http://diregarden.com/god072.html you might even like brother jack mcduff's "moon rapping". nemo7 Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 a fun sampler, as was most during this period of explorations. Quote

In case the poster doesn't know what album that is, here's a link: Miles Davis - Get Up With It May I also suggest: Jack McDuff - Moon Rappin' Charles Earland - Leaving This Planet Quote
