Jazz Kat Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 Wow, I just got this email from this musician: What's up, I'm holding a recording session in Brooklyn where I need an organ player. The recording session is on Saturday April 8th from 12pm-10pm in a Brooklyn recording studio where there a hammond b-3 organ there waiting to be played. If interested, let me know and I'll give you the further details. I think he's already got a bass player, so there's no problem. I can't wait. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 Sounds like fun! You ever play the real thing before? Do you know what to do with the drawbars? Quote
Jazz Kat Posted April 1, 2006 Author Report Posted April 1, 2006 That's what I was going to ask. I need some 101 first. I don't call myself an organist, but i play keyboards and piano so, I guess I can do it. Quote
Free For All Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 When's the session? April 8th? No problem, you should be totally on top of it by then! Quote
Jazz Kat Posted April 1, 2006 Author Report Posted April 1, 2006 , well there's already a bassist, so take away the pedals, and some background on how to get it up and running, I should be alright. Quote
Robert J Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 I don't call myself an organist, but i play keyboards and piano so, I guess I can do it. From Wikipedia: Pianists and synthesizer players who begin playing the Hammond soon realize that authentic performance practice involves a lot more than playing the notes on the keyboard. Quote
Free For All Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 horse and then cart..... ...or perhaps you first need the course and then the heart. Quote
