sidewinder Posted August 31, 2006 Author Report Posted August 31, 2006 (edited) Wow, Benny Bailey!!! Any idea what year this might be from?? Looks like the music is from the 'Faces' LP, which was recorded in 1968 in Koln. Certainly, the early 'classic' lineup of the band is all in-situ on this video with Derek Humble and Ake Persson. Art Farmer also in the lineup. Time to dig out that MPS LP ! Edited August 31, 2006 by sidewinder Quote
ep1str0phy Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 Great footage--thanks for picking it up! Quote
Spontooneous Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 Hope the cameraman got over his fixation with Kenny Clare before the film was over. Quote
Daniel A Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 (edited) apropos CBBB on Video... does this DVD here ring any bells: Here's some more info: http://www.discovery-records.com/product-S...ND-BIG-BAND.htm Issued for the first time ever, this outstanding DVD presents a filmed concert by the famous Kenny Clarke/Francy Boland Big Band recorded live in Prague in 1967 - and includes such outstanding players as Johnny Griffin, Benny Bailey, Idrees Sulieman, Tony Coe, Ronnie Scott, Jimmy Deuchar, Dusko Goykovich, Don Menza, Sahib Shihab, Ake Persson, Nat Peck, and Ellington bassist Jimmy Woode. Besides Kenny Clarke, the band included a second drummer, the British Kenny Clare, who plays a duet with the master at the concert's end. Ronnie Scott himself said : "If I were to form a band, these are the guys I would pick." This DVD includes all 68 minutes captured by the TV cameras during this exceptional evening of music - however, sadly, the band played on unrecorded for another 40 minutes, and then received a 10-minute ovation from the audience. sidewinder Posted September 19, 2006 Author Report Posted September 19, 2006 (edited) Check also a 'certain site' for a Gigi Campi documentary with the CBBB, transmitted originally on German language TV. Well worth picking up ! Edited September 19, 2006 by sidewinder Quote
