Indestructible!
Hi All, I just noticed on the Blue Note website that a number of "classic" Blue Note songs will be made available for download as ring tones. More info here: http://www.bluenote.com/news.asp?NewsID=388 “The Best of Blue Tones” program: Art Blakey- Dat Dere Art Blakey- Moanin' Clifford Brown- Daahoud Clifford Brown- Joy Spring Herbie Hancock- Cantaloup Island Herbie Hancock- Watermelon Man Blue Mitchell- Fungii Mama Thelonious Monk- Straight No Chaser Lou Donaldson- The Blues Walk Lou Donaldson- Aligator Boogaloo Hank Mobley- The Turnaround Kenny Burrell- Chitlins Con Carne Chet Baker- My Funny Valentine Gerry Mulligan- Bernie's Tune Lee Morgan- The Sidewinder Miles Davis- Move Ornette Coleman- Broad Way Blues Ronnie Laws- Always There Jimmy Smith- Back at the Chicken Shack Sonny Clark- Cool Struttin' Lonnie Smith- Son Of Ice Bag Bobby Hutcherson- Ummh Freddie Hubbard- Crisis Horace Silver- Song For My Father I'm going to check these out... the ringtones that come standard on my phone are all absolutely horrible (although the one called "This_Is_Techno" is pretty good, in a cheeeeeeezy sort of way). I can't wait to hear Hank Mobley tell me that someone is on the other line... Maybe it will be Lou Donaldson, trying to sell me a sammich! Cheers, Shane Edited September 1, 2006 by Indestructible! DMP
Downloaded one a couple weeks ago (Kenny Burrell), my first experience with all this. Pretty simple, although I had to wade through a lot of other material to find them. Who knew Diana Krall was so big in the ringtone universe? RDK
Am i missing something or does Blue Note not have a link to any site actually selling the tones? Any recommendations on where to purchase one? I just got a new cell that actually lets me do such things...
tjobbe
just a question: are those the RvG re-masters and are they Copy Controlled Cheers, Oliver
DMP
I think they're the "Applause" versions. Got mine through my service's (Cingular") website, so you might want to start with whatever company you're using. Simple to do - all you really needed to know was what type phone you have and the phone number.
Kevin Bresnahan
I create my own ringtones. All you need is an mp3 of the music you want as a ringtone. Use Audacity (available from www.download.com) to create a 30 second snippet from the .mp3 file using cut & paste. Export this 30 second snippet back to mp3 and copy it to your phone. I created some Jazz ones. Shorter's tenor solo on "Free For All" is one. The intro to Miles' "So What" is another. I usually leave it on the intro to the Who's "Baba O'Reilly" or the intro to The Cars' "Just What I Needed". Be warned that softer ringtones cause you to miss the call!
