Weather Report - The Orphan

'The Orphan' is a track from Weather Report's 8:30 album. Up until now, Joe Zawinul was always credited as sole composer: on the LP, the CD, the Japanese CD and the BMI registration.

Now the new WR box lists Wayne Shorter as co-composer. Does anyone know why? Did anyone get the box - perhaps it is explained in the booklet?

Yo Bertrand - I posed your question to somebody involved w/this set and got this reply:

Tell Bertrand that Joe asked me to credit Wayne on the CD as "The Orphan" was just a jam that Joe and Wayne played and Joe's fleshed out the music and created "The Orphan".

Hmmm...

'The Orphan' does not really sound like a jam to me. Could they be confusing it with 'Brown Street' - this one already shows Wayne as joint composer?
