WKCR plays this from time to time. As I recall, they do a very fast Tiger Rag.

I always enjoy it - Bird burns it up.

Don't forget the Parker-Tristano tracks that were featured on the soundtrack of Eastwood's 'Bird'. They were included in the soundtrack CD. This session!

That's a deep question. Are you talking about the *Charlie Parker with Lennie Tristano Complete Recordings* on Definitive DRCD 11289? If so, you would be advised to get it, because you get most of what they recorded together ... including Bird and Lennie on those tracks that were edited around in the *Bird* movie, which are beautiful in their original state ... plus... you get some fine Fats.

They played all this stuff--the moderns vs traditionalists date & the informal session that got pillaged for the Bird soundtrack (but they played the original versions)--on the WKCR Tristano marathon recently. Wonderful stuff.

Incidentally, though my feelings about the book itself are very mixed, I love the cover of Paul Berliner's Thinking in Jazz which has a great shot of Parker & Tristano.

oh thank god- this is on "definitive"? maybe theres actually a chance i can get this one in that case....

ive noticed all the best bird shows are issued on cd by just a few labels, theres the phil woods label, ember, stash is a big one.....are these just the labels OF the collectors?
