Soulstation1 Posted January 29, 2007 Author Report Posted January 29, 2007 (edited) are starlogic monitors considered crap? Edited January 29, 2007 by Soulstation1 Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 I don't know if they are crap as I've never heard of the brand. However, most monitors these days have the same insides, just different names slapped on the front. That said, I think you paid too much. For $140, you can get a nice 19" LCD these days. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...4&CatId=170 Word to the wise: Don't buy computer stuff at CompUSA, Office Max, Staples, etc. You can always get it MUCH cheaper online. Newegg, Tiger Direct, MWave, etc. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted January 29, 2007 Author Report Posted January 29, 2007 over the weekend i picked up the 20" widescreen LCD monitor for $200 regular price $300 @ officemax i freakin' hate mailing in rebates and waiting for my $$$$ the 17" is an LCD Monitor planning on bringing the 17" back today Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 Here's the thing about rebates, though: The prices online are usually lower than the stores in your hometown, even without the rebates. Pay shipping and you're usually paying what you would if you walked into the store and bought it. However, when the rebate comes, you just saved yourself a nice little sum of money. I only buy from local stores if it is something I need that day. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted January 29, 2007 Author Report Posted January 29, 2007 http://www.officemax.com/max/solutions/pro...nOID=-536879891 the 20" one i picked up Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 It's not bad... 12ms response time isn't that great nor is the contrast (600:1). But as long as your not playing video games on it, it will probably be fine. With LCDs, the specs are very important. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted January 29, 2007 Author Report Posted January 29, 2007 i'm not an "internet gamer" Quote
Uncle Skid Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 For what it's worth: be careful when buying LCD monitors online, as many merchants (newegg, tiger direct, etc) have "limited exchange privileges", which basically means that it can only be returned if defective. I purchased four different LCDs (from the local Best Buy/Circuit City/etc) until I finally found one I really liked. There was no problem returning the monitors to the local stores, but it was a good thing I liked the one I ordered online (20" HP LP2065), as it was "non-refundable, return for replacement only". In fact, I like the LP2065 so much, I just ordered a second one. Dual-monitors! Quote
Soulstation1 Posted January 29, 2007 Author Report Posted January 29, 2007 $200 is about the max i could afford and that's really stretching it Quote
