To my knowledge, Koala was an Australian/American label which issued some live Ellington dates, partially. At least I can remember the dance date at Carrolltown, Pennsylvania in June 1957; the March 4&5 1958 dance dates at the Travis Air Force Base; and the Mather Air Force Base date on July 22, 1960. Probably your disc contains selections from one or two of them. I will try to add some discographical information later.

Side One is from 7/28/1956 Fairfield CT - Connecticut Jazz Festival. Same show as the IAJRC issue but this is additional material.

Side Two: Haupe & Flirtibird are from 6/27/1959 Tamiment PA. Balance of Side 2 is from Carroltown PA, June 1957. Same show as "All Star Road Band" on Dr Jazz, but some material is not duplicated.

This info is from the "New DESOR".

At the 4&5 March, 1958 Mather AFB, Sacramento (Cal) date, none of the titles I listed in my previous post with bold letters were played, neither were Polly or Flirty Bird.

At the 22 July, 1960 Mather AFB, Sacramento (Cal) date, none of the titles I listed in my previous post with bold letters were played, but there's another version of Diminuendo in Blue and Crescendo in Blue.

Oops, now I see Pete B's post. So, no need to keep on perusing Timner and Lambert.

The Diminuendo In Blue And Crescendo In Blue from Fairfield (1956) was issued on The Happening / Paul Gonsalves (Musica Jazz MJCD 1153). Timner Volume 3 (don't have volume 4) has Polly's Tune and Flirtbird listed as from December 28, 1958, a live date from the Blue Note, Chicago.

Those two are on CD! A French Vogue release from 1984 'Duke Ellington & his Orchestra - At the Blue Note Chicago' (with different material from the later double CD Roulette).

The French Vogue CD lists the two as 'Polly's Theme' and 'Flirtibird'. Source for these two plus two more tracks was Jerry Valburn!

Koala's adress was a P.O. box at Hendersonville, TN, according to the one Koala vinyl I have (Duke Ellington 'Satin Doll').
