Rooster_Ties Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 I just came into a free Beatles Anthology video box set (VHS), which appears to be about 10 hours in length (on 8 tapes, each 75 minutes or so). While I'm no Beatles "fanatic", I am probably a fan -- and I'm guessing there's probably a BUNCH of interesting stuff to be heard and seen here. Has anybody here seen all or most of this?? -- any thoughts?? I'll probably watch the whole thing over several months time (damn, 10 hours!! - that'll take me 3 to 6 months to get all the way through), and then I'll probably try to find another happy home for it. JSngry has the right of first refusal, just cuz. Quote
sal Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 Saw it back when it came out. Its an excellent anthology...very insightful. I loved it. However, if you're not a fanatic, it may be a bit more detail than you need. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 Some of the dynamics between George and Paul during the 1990s group interviews are pretty funny. Quote
Aggie87 Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 (edited) I have the dvd box set, got it cheap during a store closure sale. It has alot of material that wasn't included in the original over-the-air broadcast (or the VHS set, I think). I remember how big of an "event' it was when the Anthology was originally broadcast, and remember being totally engrossed at the time - and how cool it was to see the "Threetles" united at the time. It was almost like time stood still: Edited March 1, 2007 by Aggie87 Quote
tonym Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 I remember being glued to the TV when this was shown late 1995 in the UK. I don't think it's ever been repeated since. I'd like to watch it again. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted March 1, 2007 Author Report Posted March 1, 2007 I could also mention that George was probably my favorite Beatle, and the one whose solo career I followed the most (well, "caught up with" the most would be more accurate to say - since I was born in '69). Seeing interview footage with George in the 90's will likely be a highlight for me. Quote

He recorded the whole thing at home, and it's probably the best thing he did since ATMP. Quote
