Chicago smoking ban may cloud jazz lovers' loyalty

Since the article mentions jazz fans from Paris, it should be added that there has been a smoking ban in most public places throughout France since February 1. Few complaints so far!

That's been my experience in NYC - no impact at all on bar and nightclub attendance, although some owners make claims to the contrary. I suspect they are smokers themselves. I love coming home not smelling like an ashtray. The only downside I can see is that it makes the streets a lot noisier at night, as all the smokers go to the sidewalk outside the bars/clubs in groups to get their fixes. That's actually a small part of why I am moving. I have been woken up by loud, drunk smokers outside my place at 4 am on far too many Thursday nights/Friday mornings.
