Big Al Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Has anyone seen this? The reviews have been good and the commercials have been hilarious. The only problem is, my 11-year-old son wants to see this. He also thought the commercials were funny, and was disappointed to see it was rated R. So, for those of you who have seen this: is that R-rating deserved? Or do you think an 11-year-old would be able to sit through this with little problem? Quote
tonym Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Hi Al. Great film. As far as young kids are concerned though, I'd be reluctant to let an 11 year old watch it. Others may disagree but there's a fair amount of sexual innuendo in there along with quite a lot of gory (slasher type) violence. Really well done, but completely over the top. Moreover, the closing part of the film sees (I won't try to spoil it too much for you) the cops attempt to rectify all the wrong-doings by means of big automatic weapons and extended shootouts. Obviously all done with tongue firmly in cheek and knowingly derivative (Simon Pegg is a huge film buff) but possibly not intended for youthful heads. Let's see how others feel! Quote
Stefan Wood Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Saw this yesterday. Loved it, but definitely NOT for young kids. Starts off like an Ealing comedy, becomes the Wicker Man, then explodes into a big finale like Bad Boys. Crazy, but it works seamlessly. Quote
Big Al Posted April 22, 2007 Author Report Posted April 22, 2007 Thanks! I may just go see it myself anyway and see what it's like. Thanks for the input! Quote
jazzbo Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Wow. I saw the previews and thought. . . "Okay, I've seen more than enough." Quote
BERIGAN Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Thanks! I may just go see it myself anyway and see what it's like. Thanks for the input! Then, you can tell the kid how you loved it, and how it's a darn shame he can't see it! Quote
