I have been looking forward to some sort of box for Berigan, though I am not sure which period this box will cover. Hopefully it will prime stuff. Potential Box sets liket his is one of the reasons I would never consider boycotting Mosaic. Quote
Harold_Z Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 Yeah...boycotting Mosaic is biting your nose to spite your face for sure. I think this set is going to contain a lot of material that most of us (including myself) haven't heard. the familiar stuff for me will be the Bunny and His Boys that was on the TAKE IT BUNNY Epic lp....which was edited to remove the Chick Bullock vocals. The vocals were deemed too corny by the Epic execs at the time of the lp release. I just want to hear it the way it was...if the vocals are corny I can deal with it. I'm sure the earlier version of "I Can't Get Started" will be on this. The interlude that was on the later RCA hit version first appeared on this version and was Eddie Condon's contribution. Eddie is usually credited as the guitarist on this date, but he always firmly denied he played on the session. It will be interesting to see if Mosaic addresses this issue in it's notes. Quote

Just make sure they don't release Sonic Boom or something else I can't live without! I just can't associate frustration with the Bulleting Board with the music. Two different things... Quote
BERIGAN Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 Well, I read on the other board this from clandy44 ....I'm listening right now to disc 1 of the Quebec/Hardee and thanking my stars that Mosaic is alive and kicking. I must say that the news that Mosaic had to let the 2 women in the office go is troubling-for one thing, Scott will have to do more of the admin duties, which explains why the long awaited Berigan is not here and not even on the horizon. And I most definitely won't be patronizing the rip off labels. I might have been a bit hasty in saying I would boycott Mosaic, I just hoped against hope someone with brains and pull would see the talk about boycotting and take it seriously enough to at least address our concerns...I think one of the reasons folks like JSnrgy left finally was that even trying to talk nice, and being understanding like he was, was getting rewarded with PM's not only being disabled, but deleted as well, no more replying to a post, UBB Code is not enabled, in other words.... There is nothing worse than just plain being ignored....they should have just said the board was going down in 12 hours, to come back later....then folks couldn't/wouldn't have turned it into the laughingstock it is today.... I am also looking forward to this Berrigan set(BIG SURPRISE). When I read the stink this guy "Pharoh-something" was putting up on the AAJ board about BNBBrs cluttering up their board with junk about Mosaic sets and stuff, I thought I'd look around somemore. I will really miss the old board, don't know where its headed, but I'm not optimistic. Must need a "Mosaic Fix" to bring me out of this Blue Note Board Funk! ***TOD*** Quote

Waitin' on the Tea set to be shipped and figurin' to buy a couple more things in the not too distant future. When I was at Mosaic last Fall, Scott was working on Berigan-don't know the gestation periods for these sets, but was hoping to see Berigan by now...or at least a hint he was on his way. Quote
