Van Basten II Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 Any boxing fans among y'all ? Good news everyone, tonight is a celebration for boxing fans, for once a fight will have mainstream appeal and that does not involve freak show Mike Tyson. The lnot so good news is that the fight involves probably the best fighter in the business today who's moving up in weight (a little too much) to face mainstream boxing star and recording artist Oscar de La Hoya. Problem is that the Golden Boy is a little like another Oscar that we're more familiar here , Oscar Peterson, they're not exactly what they're used to be and if they attract crowds it's more because of their name than the quality of ther latest performances. Prediction, an easy UD for Mayweather in a fight that will do little to entice people to follow that sport. Quote
catesta Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 I'm still undecided as to whether or not I'm actually going to watch the fight. I did though put a few bucks on De La Hoya. Quote
donald byrd 4 EVA Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 (edited) I still think the tyson-lewis fight was bigger. As for fighters, i prefer that manny pacquiao guy Edited May 5, 2007 by donald byrd 4 EVA Quote

Van Basten II Posted May 5, 2007 Author Report Posted May 5, 2007 remember hector "macho" camacho? He wasn't so Macho he kept running like a little girl, by the way his son is as annoying in the ring than he was. Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 I did though put a few bucks on De La Hoya. I wouldn't have done that. I don't think that De La Hoya will be able to land much of anything. Mayweather is too good. Quote

Van Basten II Posted May 6, 2007 Author Report Posted May 6, 2007 As i expected, the fight was not that exciting but at least it was better than i feared. Despite being overmatched De la Hoya was relentlessly agressive and Mayweather for once did not fight like an accountant by doing jut enough to win, he at least triied to win convingly most of the rounds. Had 118-110 Mayweather, very suprised by the split decision. Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 I don't even follow the fight game much, but it seemed a mismatch on paper going in. I can't recall the last big fight won by De La Hoya. This one seemed easy to predict. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 i just wanted oscar's face too get f-ed up...... 2 black eyes, a broken nose, 10 teeth knocked out and 10 DEEEEEEP cuts on his face Quote

donald byrd 4 EVA Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 GULFPORT, Miss. -- Three-time boxing champion Hector "Macho" Camacho was sent to jail Monday after pleading guilty to a 2004 burglary charge. Camacho faces up to seven years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. Circuit Judge Steve Simpson delayed sentencing, but ordered him sent straight to jail because a bail bond agent said he hadn't heard from Camacho for more than two years, the Sun Herald reported on its Web site. Camacho, who is being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, won super lightweight, lightweight and junior welterweight world titles in the 1980s. His last title bout came against then-welterweight champion Oscar De La Hoya in 1997, a loss by unanimous decision. A warrant was issued for Camacho on Dec. 22, 2004, for a November burglary of a computer store. He was arrested in January 2005 on the burglary charge, and was also charged with drug possession after police allegedly found ecstasy in his hotel room at the Imperial Palace. Trial on the drug charge is tentatively set for June. In a written statement in January 2005, Camacho apologized for the break-in, which caused nearly $13,000 in damage and losses at ZDI Computer Center in Gulfport. Camacho had bought a laptop from the business but had left it there for work on technical problems. He was trying to retrieve his computer, his attorney, David Morrison, said. The break-in was "a momentary lapse in judgment," he added. Morrison said negotiations had taken place with the business owners, Solomon and Samantha Wheeler, until their attorney made an "outrageous" demand for $500,000 to avoid media exposure. Wayne Woodall, the Wheelers' attorney, claims Camacho fell through the ceiling, cut himself, urinated inside the office and left with seven laptops and about $5,600 in checks and cash. Camacho has had several brushes with the law involving drugs, his driving habits, and domestic assault. When he was 16, he served 3 1/2 months in a New York prison for auto theft. Quote
