bertrand Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Can anyone with access to the CD-ROM of the Lord discography tell me if there is a jazz recording out there with a tune entitled 'Harlem Is Awful Messy'? Joe Guy and/or Hot Lips Page may be on it. If anyone actually has such a record (assuming it exists), who is listed as composer? Thanks in advance, Bertrand. Quote
EKE BBB Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 No mention of that tune (or similar titles) on Version 6.0. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 No mention of that tune (or similar titles) on Version 6.0. Not in Bruyninckx (that I can find) either. Quote
bertrand Posted May 22, 2007 Author Report Posted May 22, 2007 Thanks for checking. There is a 1941 copyright deposit for a tune with this title by Monk, Guy and Page (with lyrics). We know Monk never recorded it, but as I was trying to track down the lead sheet today at the Library of Congress, I started coming up with these alternate scenarios, including the possibility that Guy or Page recorded it instead. Of course, I came up with this idea AFTER I left the builiding. They have the Lord CD-ROM. Bertrand. Quote
