DeepdiscountDVD.com has it listed for $41.05 Costco $39.99 Another website says that it contains 6 1/2 hours of music. There 50 tracks - guess 10 songs per/disc. Paul Simon was the host, when he brought out George Harrison for a couple of songs. i remember "Here Comes The Sun", can't remember the 2nd tune. IMO it's be worth the price. Played w/Prime Time, and it ROCKED. Milton Berle was the host. Don't know if this is still the case, but when the original cast episodes first went into sydication and were made available for retail sale, this was the one episode that ws witheld, due to Berle's incessant and obnoxious hamming and piss-poor adlibbing. Vintage Uncle Miltie is a treat in it's own way, but this is not pretty. Too bad that Ornette got caught in the middle. Betty Carter was on in either the first or second season, and THAT was something to both see and hear. Hope that gets included, as well as the first appearance by Elvis Costello. Hell, the ENTIRE Ray Charles as host show should come out in a separate volume. THAT was some shit! Now, when is NIGHT MUSIC going to be made available? I think the ones I have include Sun Ra, Carla Bley and Steve Swallow, and Karen Mantler, also I vaguely remember having the one with Sting. GREAT show that Night Music. I wasn't quite 2 years old, but I know my parents used to stay up and watch it with their friends at that age. I'd be willing to bet they saw this episode, but had no idea who Ornette is. 24 years later, Ornette Coleman is a Ralston household name! (and NO jazz, either? Screw'em) Somebody else who made a strong impression on SNL was Leon Redbone. Sure, he's pretty much a feelgood cliche self-parody these days, but when he did SNL the first time, he was all but unknown. Imagine seeing this guy you've never heard of before in a white suit, hat, and shades sitting on a stoll singing rather menacingly about how he'll go insane without his walking stick, accompanied only by his guitar and Howard Johnson's tuba. To think they left off Betty Carter, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, George Benson, Keith Jarrett, Sun Ra, Eubie Blake, Ornette Coleman, Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock!
