CD (€9.44 || £6.39 || ¥1493) (approx.) CD (Item 465046) Wax Poetics, 1971 -- Condition: New Copy Gritty funk from East Of Underground -- an uber obscure LP recorded in 1971 by a group of US Army serviceman at the Armed Forces Network studios in Frankfurt, Germany -- unearthed by Dante Carfagna and issued as the first ever album on Wax Poetics Records! The sketchy known history of this nugget is fascinating, but the music is truly incredible -- a stone funky collection of covers with pummeling drums that need to heard to be believed -- with sweet harmony and exuberant lead vocals, vamping guitar, and loads of surprises. The album was mastered from the one single LP copy kept by the US Army -- the master tapes are MIA -- so this is about as deep a discovery as possible! Kudos to Wax Poetics for a killer debut release! Titles include "Higher", "Smiling Faces", "Hell Below", "Getting Over", the awesome medley "Bet'Ya Never Lose My Love California Dreamer", "Popcorn/Santana", "I Love You", "Java Girl" and "Walk On By".
