Jim Alfredson Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 Hey folks! Just got my cable modem back after going without it since March. It's been painful... once you get used to broadband, there's no going back. Anyway, in our new house, rather than routing CAT5 cable everywhere I decided to go wireless! Oh man, is this cool! For those thinking of taking the wireless plunge I highly reccomend Netgear stuff. Yesterday I bought a Netgear wireless router and then a Linksys wireless adapter for my computer since it was on sale. What a mistaket that was. I spent four hours last night trying to get the Linksys to work. I finally returned it today, bought a Netgear card, popped it into my computer and VOILA! No problems. This is sweet, baby!!! I also have my new motherboard for my music computer to install today. I'm in computer geek heaven! Quote
Joe G Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 (edited) That explains all your recent posting in the silliest album cover thread. Edited September 10, 2003 by Joe G Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted September 10, 2003 Author Report Posted September 10, 2003 Yeah... it helps with a faster connection. Man, my dialup was so slow I spent more time waiting for things to load than actually doing work. This will make website updates and such so much easier on my patience. Quote
Jim Dye Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 Sounds cool, Jim! What kind of mobo/setup you building? Quote
Jazzmoose Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 Man, I envy you, Jim; I won't even go near that "silliest cover" thread with my dial-up connection... Quote
vibes Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 Welcome to the world of wireless, Jim! I bought a wireless setup a couple years ago, right after I got married, and it's been great. I've never had problems with any of my equipment, and my wife appreciates my being able to sit next to her and do my thing while she does hers. Sitting out on my apartment balcony with the laptop is great, too. I highly recommend it to anyone with a laptop or a desire to avoid wires. Quote
