Teasing the Korean Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 Is the pianist Phil Moore who played with Curtis Amy the same Phil Moore as the arranger (who recorded "New York Sweet" for Mercury)? Quote
Spontooneous Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 Is the pianist Phil Moore who played with Curtis Amy the same Phil Moore as the arranger (who recorded "New York Sweet" for Mercury)? Phil Sr. did the Mercury date and had the Phil Moore Four. That's Phil Jr. with Curtis Amy, to the best of my knowledge. Quote
Free For All Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 (edited) Is that the Phil Moore East or the Phil Moore West? (sorry, someone had to say it) Edited January 1, 2008 by Free For All Quote
Spontooneous Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 Is that the Phil Moore East or the Phil Moore West? In his early years, Phil hoped that music was his ticket out of the family hog-rendering business. But every time his father caught him practicing an instrument, the father would shout, "Get back to work and mill lard, Phil Moore!" Quote

Spontooneous Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 (edited) Yep. (Thought it was in one of these so-called reference books sitting around the house, but can't find a citation this morning.) Edited January 1, 2008 by Spontooneous Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Phil Moore, the younger, is also on some of Gerald Wilson's albums for PJ in the mid sixties - "On stage", "Feelin' kinda blues", "Live & swingin'" and "Everywhere" - He's billed as Phil Moore III. He also made an album for Atlantic - "Right on". Haven't got that one. MG Quote
