Big Beat Steve Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Not surrendering my copy! This was recorded on the afternoon of my birth! It must be really (really really really really) old then! 4 Aug. 1955! THAT old??? My, my! Quote
jazzbo Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Yes, that old. I'm HAPPY to be that old! Quote
felser Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Yes, that old. I'm HAPPY to be that old! 1 - I'm 11/29/54, and am with you on that one. 2 Maurice Chevalier in an interview concerning his 80th birthday Interviewer: "So Maurice, how does it feel to be 80?" Chevalier: "Great, when you consider the alternative!" Quote
jazzbo Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Right, the alternative (tell me about it, I'm learning too much about it) sucks. And I just liek the age I am and the way that my life is set up partly as a result. In six weeks I can tell my employers to shove it if I feel like it at any time, and retire, and do something else. The last few years I've had more money than I ever have in my life even though I've been shelling out more money than ever before in my life. And a lot of "urgencies" have left me. I can contemplate my moves or nonmoves, not hurl through scenarios and situations. And I even dress, look and act better than I did ever before! Win win. . .I hope to keep enjoying it some time longer. It's a very interesting cd this one, worth seeking out. If I see any leads I'll pass them along. Quote
jazzbo Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Wow. . . I guess I'd never seen the original cover before! Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Wow. . . I guess I'd never seen the original cover before! Neither have I. As I am listening to my 80s reissue LP of this record on French RCA with its somewhat nondescript cover (though there have been lots worse) I'm really wondering why these companies could not have used the original artwork for their reissues to add a little respect for the original production (like the Japanese have beein doing for such a long time). jazzbo Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Oddly enough I would think that in the seventies they felt these covers would not sell because the people "dressed funny." And now we look at people in the seventies and think. . .boy they dressed funny! Quote
