I read over on the Steve Hoffman forums that Cisco Music has shut down their US office. I expect this means that their stock will start drying up, including Dexter Gordon's "One Flight Up" and Herbie Hancock's "Takin' Off". Someone started a thread over at the Hoffman forum about how great Cisco Music's LP of "Takin' Off" is. Several people are saying it sounds great, with very little panning resulting a wide stereo spread. I have both of these LPs on order from www.elusivedisc.com (using new buyer special code NEWWEB to get free shipping).

If you want them, I'd order them. They might start disappearing.

I may have to listen to the "Takin' off" Cisco LP again, but the first time I compared it to the version in the Complete Blue Note CD box set, I preferred the CD.

Thanks Kevin for the info, I have the original pressings of Gordon and Hancock, but I was planning to give to Cisco a chance for some other titles. It seems too late. :(

edit: actually I have the two Joan Baez's Vanguard of Cisco, I listened to them once, just to check flaws, not a serious listening.

Maybe in 2010 Music Matters will get round to doing 45rpm versions of these titles?

Haven't heard a Cisco pressing - in fact haven't seen any of them over here.

That's OK, there aren't any Music Matters LPs over here. :)
