Have to admire your dedication to the wireless, Bill!

JRR was good tonight - the Don Byas/Slam Stewart track was great - never heard that. Ornette's Rambin' which is wonderful.

And the Duke track at the end (Kinda Dukish/Rockin' in Rhythm) sent me straight to 'The Great Paris Concert'.

Afraid I forgot JRR tonight - thrown by the BBC's retiming, doubtless to make way for more elevating classical fare! By the way, what is this "wireless"? I'm listening to a crystal set.

Having heard this program, my overriding impression is of the amazing weath of talent in jazz at the time. But then, it was only a few months before 1959, which now seems to be generally recognized as an annus mirabilis for jazz.
