Friday night's Jazz on 3.

Well worth a listen - 5 tunes from Bill Frisell's Cheltenham performance last Sunday. And an interview and solo performance by Sardinian guitarist Paolo Angeli.

The Frisell line-up:

Bill Frisell - guitar

Chris Cheek - tenor sax, clarinet

Ron Miles - trumpet

Larry Grenadier - bass

Rudy Royston - drums

Set-list:

Monroe (Frisell)

Probability Cloud (Frisell)

A Change Is Gonna Come (Sam Cooke)

Benny's Bugle (Benny Goodman)

Mood (Ron Carter)

Sadly no "Subconscious-Lee" which was a highlight!

There to hear on the replayer until Friday next:

Sonny Buxton on KCSM.

Now playing: Benny Carter,Further Definitions.

EDIT: Sonny is proving himself none-too-hip where the British jazz scene is concerned. Introducing a Gene Harris live recording, he has just identified Andrew Clyndert as the drummer and expressed amazement that jazz is being played at a place called Pizza Express :(

WFIU public radio in Bloomington, IN has a pretty good classic jazz show called Night Lights. They also have a lot of archived shows on the blog that I linked in the last sentence. Actually just a few days ago they had a really good show on Miles Davis and The Birth of Cool Songbook.

You guys should definitely check it out!
