Teasing the Korean Posted June 6, 2008 Author Report Posted June 6, 2008 Well, if we're talking about the original 1960s series, there were only 2 seasons (1963-65), and the first season had lots of the classic Outer Limits monsters. Also, the second season had some interesting episodes with minimal monster factor: http://www.innermind.com/outerlimits/guides/ol01.txt Thanks. I was surprised to find out that "Demon with the Glass Hand" was from the second season. That's a great episode. Quote
jazzbo Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 I'll pass. You are not dark enough to "pass". Almost as long as I don't take off my shirt or pants. Quote
Shawn Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 twilight zone sucked - try watching the reruns and you'll wonder what you ever saw in that show - and the WORST ones are the ones written by Serling - It definitely didn't "suck", it was spotty, but there's some damn interesting stories in that series. The best ones are the Richard Matheson scripts; one of my all-time favorite authors. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted September 26, 2009 Author Report Posted September 26, 2009 Well, more than a year after posting this, I finally broke down and ordered the 3-CD set. For years, I had the single-disc volume on GNP Crescendo, and kept coming back to it and discovering new things. This set is absolutely amazing, the cream-of-the-crop in mid-century outer space music. Mastering is better than the GNP disc and there is three times as much music. Quote
AllenLowe Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 I've always felt responsible for Rod Serling's death - but it's a long story - Quote
AllenLowe Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 (edited) ok if you insist - in 1975 I was a student at SUNY Binghamton and there was a writing contest through the University for which Serling was the head judge - well, I entered and got an honorable mention, and then Serling dropped dead. Teasing the Korean Posted September 26, 2009 Author Report Posted September 26, 2009 I think you're mixing up two different TV shows, Allen... Quote
AllenLowe Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 actually, if you read through the thread, Rod Serling's name came up, earlier - I always thought he was a terrible writer - Quote
BruceH Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 Well, if we're talking about the original 1960s series, there were only 2 seasons (1963-65), and the first season had lots of the classic Outer Limits monsters. Also, the second season had some interesting episodes with minimal monster factor: http://www.innermind.com/outerlimits/guides/ol01.txt Thanks. I was surprised to find out that "Demon with the Glass Hand" was from the second season. That's a great episode. Yes, there were some solid episodes in the second season, but they tended to be few and far between. The bulk of the first-rate episodes were in Season One. I bought the DVD box of Season One some years ago, and couldn't bring myself to buy the second season because I'd basically be getting it for just two (three at the most) episodes. BTW, television was different back then for another reason...there were 32 episodes in that first season! Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted January 10, 2010 Author Report Posted January 10, 2010 STILL listening to the 3-disc set. God this is great music, alternating between scary, ominous and poignant. Dominic Frontiere rules! For Christmas I got the first season of the show on DVD. It's fun to hear how this music worked in the episodes that I never saw, like "The Architects of Fear." Quote
Ron S Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 For those who may be interested, the label that issued this set has it on sale until 1/31/2011 for $9.98 plus $4.00 shipping: http://www.lalalandr...uterLimits.html Quote
