Christiern Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 I took dear Elva Miller to lunch in Hollywood in September, 1966. She had recorded "Strangers in the Night" that morning and she wasn't quite sure if it went okay, but "the boys liked it," she said of her Capitol crew. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 Good grief Chris! You looked EXACTLY like one of the senior people in my former office! I wondered what the hell George was doing on Organissimo for a few seconds! (Unfortunately, there is no pic of him on the web.) You'd have hated him MG Quote
GA Russell Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 I believe I recall seeing her sing Downtown on the Ed Sullivan Show. I can only imagine what Strangers in the Night sounded like! Quote
Christiern Posted June 20, 2008 Author Report Posted June 20, 2008 Poor George--I hope he morphed nicely, MG. Thanks for the déjà vu, rostasi. She eventually got through to the end. That, by the way, is her whistling--she used to fill her mouth with ice cubes to tune it right! I recall her being asked about her husband by an AP reporter. "He's at home," she replied, "enjoying poor health." Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 Do I remember her? I HAVE MOST OF HER ALBUMS! Talk about a long overdue Mosaic box... Quote

jlhoots Posted June 21, 2008 Report Posted June 21, 2008 I thought this was going to be about McCabe & Mrs. Miller. Never mind. Quote
