BERIGAN Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 We want to get a Dish of some sort We are hating the poor reception of cable, the high price, the lack of WGN, and all those damn ads touting how much better they are than satellite!!!! Can't tell much of a difference between the two, one of the two(forget which one) seems to have a few more of the premium channels if you get every channel they have to offer. What say y'all??? Any big advantage of one over the other????? Quote
Jazzmoose Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Well, here's what we did: pulled the plug. (Actually, I did it, before we got together; she's never had cable.) Reception problems are a thing of the past. I spend maybe six hours a week in front of the tube. I highly recommend it. Of course, now you know why my post count is so high; this is my idiot box! Jim Dye Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 I dumped Comcast for DirectTV 2 months ago. I'm very happy with it. Many more channels for much less money. Great reception. No problems. I'm very happy with it. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 we get wgn on comcast in arizona, but comcast still sucks. next to insurance, cable is a rip-off. ss1 Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Here's my question: In these days of consumer choice that we're living in, why doesn't a cable company offer fully customized service? In other words, why can't you pay for just the channels that you want each month? Why do my wife and I, with basic cable, have to pay for TWO NBC channels, TWO CBS channels, TWO ABC channels, about FOUR UPN channels, a bunch of boring ass local community channels that no one in their right mind watches and stupid crap like the golf channel and we don't even get something cool like TLC or Discovery for our $30 a month? Bullshit. Quote
Parkertown Posted October 24, 2003 Report Posted October 24, 2003 I've been a Dish Network customer for several years, and it's always been great! Right now, I can get you a deal for a free 2room systems (one with a built-in Digital Video Recorder! ) with free premium installation, plus $49.99 off your first bill. For my referral, they will give me $60 bucks credit, spread over 12 months. I've got this system and have been totally happy with it's performance. Hell, you can even record the movies including their Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtracks, if broadcast that way. If interested, please PM me. Good luck! Quote
