i just saw this what is a program for an art tatum related event

so that cd that was recently produced....THEY DID IT WITH AN AUDIENCE?!?!?? IT WASNT SOME STATE OF THE ART THING DONE IN A LAB OR WITH NO PEOPLE-- BUT THEY PRESENTED IT AS AN ACTUAL CONCERT?!?!

am i reading into this wrong?

Those must be the weirdest liner notes since Sun Ra. Or Harry Smith.

What's your beef with Dick Hyman? Electric Eclectics is one of thee greatest albums ever made.

Teasing, I love Dick Hyman. I just picked him cuz he does such a great job of playing the old styles; his Jelly Roll Morton album on Columbia is one of my all time faves. Tho I don't mean to imply that I (or that he would himself) think he could "re-perform" Art Tatum. Maybe Oscar Peterson could have, but that would be covered in my second guess, after Victrola.

I hadn't heard of Electric Eclectics before. Ordinarily a title like that would put me off, but if it's by Dick Hyman, I might agree with your assessment. I'd certainly like to hear it - have to see if I can track it down.
