Pid?

I have always seen re-issues that have 'Pid' listed as the label/manufacturer of discs on CD Universe.

Case in point:

What/Who is 'Pid'? Is it an acronym for something sinister?

Most if not all Fresh Sound and Andorean labels have this too so I susspect it stands for Pxxxx Import Disc.

In the forum database, pid stands for post identification.

Wouldn't PID simply stand for "Product Identification" ?

I suspect it is a glitch in the CDUniverse site. Possibly a null value gets set to Pid by default. As you can see from the link you posted CDU uses pid as URL variable.

Either that or record company consolidation has run amuck.

If I remember correctly PID was/is an import division of a major record company or a distributor.
