BeBop Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 The December Jazz Improv NY Magazine (freebie version) has an ad on page 7 (page 9 in the PDF) listing a bunch of Inner City reissues (including 3 Ernie Krivdas that I don't believe have been out on CD - Alchemist, Satanic and Glory Strut). The website referenced in the ad (http://www.jazzsession.com) doesn't seem to list all of these new items, and I don't see them at the "usual suspects" (e.g., Amazon). But I guess they're coming. Jazzmusicdepot had some of the last Inner City batch, as I recall. (I'm trying to cut and paste a copy of the reissue list, but my slow internet connection is killing me.) Quote
mjzee Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 I remember the Suzanne McCorkle being nice. Are these Sun Ra's really not available on any other label? I hope they rerelease the Pony Poindexter, hopefully in better sound. Quote
Joe Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 Funny... was listening to Krivda's work earlier today on a date issued as LEE'S KEYS, PLEASE (and attributed to the "Cadence All-Stars"... recommended, BTW) and wondered about the status of those Inner City records. Excited to see that they might be available again. Quote
Bluerein Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 The Krivda CD's will be available in Januari/Februari. I got this from the Jazzsessions.com owner. Quote

skeith Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 slightly off topic, but I thought I should mention for Krivda fans that Cadence Jazz put out a cd entitled "Live in New York City" a year or so ago from a gig that Ernie did at Sweet Rhythm a couple of years back. I think it captured the new band and this gig pretty well - I was there and so was Bebop if I remember correctly. Quote
BeBop Posted December 17, 2008 Author Report Posted December 17, 2008 Indeed! This has been on my 'to buy...when I get back to civilization/civilized life" list. Soon, I hope. Quote
randyhersom Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 The two I'd most like to see that aren't on jazzsession.com are Ted Curson - Jubilant Power and Charles Sullivan - Genesis. Quote
BeBop Posted December 17, 2008 Author Report Posted December 17, 2008 ...and Archie Shepp "Doodlin'" Quote
randyhersom Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 Google was my friend on the subject of Charles Sullivan - Genesis and also Piano Choir - Handscapes, both of which my old vinyl was too battered to rip. Quote
BeBop Posted March 25, 2009 Author Report Posted March 25, 2009 Several of the Inner Citys (including at least two Ernie Krivdas) are now available through Cadence. Quote
skeith Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 Several of the Inner Citys (including at least two Ernie Krivdas) are now available through Cadence. Bebop- Yeah but the problem with Cadence is that $6.00/ order minimum shipping charge which comes to $3.00/disc. Also for NY residents they charge tax. Anyone see a better deal on these Krivdas? strangely Amazon is offering only "Satanic" on cd - the Alchemist is MP3 download only. Quote
BeBop Posted March 26, 2009 Author Report Posted March 26, 2009 Well, they're $14 a disc, plus, plus. I guess I'm accustomed to paying $17 for a hot-off-the-presses offering, even though I know the price will drop if I wait. I really don't know how widely available these will be. And, if there's one thing I've grown to appreciate, it's that, if I want something, whether for myself or as a gift, and I see it, buy it, lest it become the next Basra or (what was the Mosaic box that got discontinued after a short life?) Quote
BeBop Posted March 26, 2009 Author Report Posted March 26, 2009 ...and it looks like Amazon wants $17 (free shipping at $25) plus tax for the one CD they have. I did a quick, on-line price search. Best I found was Dusty Groove at $13.99. (Don't know shipping cost.) Quote

BeBop Posted March 26, 2009 Author Report Posted March 26, 2009 Sorry, I know I sounded kinda preachy. I suppose that the low volume of buying a do leaves me pretty price-insensitive...though I miraculously held off buying that Live in New York disc. Regretting it now? Yeah, prob'ly. Quote
