sidewinder Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 (edited) Yes chewy, excellent mucic. At the time of that twofer release that session with Coleman, Farrell and Frank Foster was previously unreleased. The whole set was a revelation for me when I bought it back in 1978 - Elvin's playing like a man posesssed and his sound is finely captured. I agree that the lack of piano really brings his playing into focus - and the percussion interaction with Candido is really good. The session has since been issued on CD as part of the OOP Mosaic set, of course. Reminder to self - put the Elvin Mosaic set on the I-Pod ! Edited February 13, 2009 by sidewinder Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 One of my favorite sessions with Lee Morgan as a sideman. Great to hear him backed only by bass and drums -- the only time I think that ever happened on record, right?? Quote
