jacman Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Can anyone help me with this software problem? Eighteen months ago I upgraded to Girlfriend 1.0 from Drinking Mates 4.2 which I’d used for years without any problems. However, there are apparently conflicts between these two products and the only solution was to try and run Girlfriend 1.0 with the sound turned off. To make matters worse, Girlfriend 1.0 is also incompatible with several other applications, such as Lads Night Out 3.1, Football 2 and Playboy 6.1. Successive versions of Girlfriend have proved no better. A shareware beta-programme, Party Girl 2.1 had many bugs and left a virus in my system, forcing me to shut down completely for several weeks. Eventually I tried to run Girlfriend 1.2 and Girlfriend 1.0 at the same time, only to discover that when these two systems detected each other they caused severe damage to all my hardware. Sensing a way out, I upgraded to Fiancée 1.0 only to discover that this product has to be upgraded to Wife 1.0. I did this largely because, whilst Wife 1.0 uses up all available resources, it does come bundled with Freesex Plus and Cleanhouse 2000. However, I discovered that Wife 1.0 can be very unstable and costly to run. For example, any mistakes I made were automatically stored in Wife 1.0’s memory and could not be deleted, they then re-surfaced months later. Wife 1.0 also has an automatic Diary Explorer and E-mail porn filter, and can, without warning, launch Photostrop and Whingezip. These latter products have no help files and require you to try and guess the problem yourself. Additional costly problems are that the Wife 1.0 bundle, that came with the original system, needs updating regularly, requiring Shoe Shop Browser Pro for new attachments and Hairstyle Express needs to be re-installed every other week. It also conflicted with some of the new games I wanted to try, stating that they are an illegal operation. When Wife 1.0 attaches itself to my Nova Programme, it often crashes or runs the system dry. Wife 1.0 also has a rather annoying pop-up called Mother-in-Law, which can't be turned off. Recently I've been tempted to try Mistress 2000, but there could be problems. If Wife 1.0 detects the presence of Mistress 2000 it will delete all MS money files before un-installing itself. Any ideas? Quote
Guest Chaney Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Why not try the software I'm currently running: Old&ForeverAlone Pro? (FYI: I've found no conflicts when used with Solo Sex 1.0.) Quote
Guest Chaney Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Here's www comments on this problem: In answer to this sexist rubbish... Dear Tech Support: Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a slowdown in the overall performance, particularly in the flower and jewelry applications that had operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0. In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, but installed undesirable Programs such as NFL 5.0 and NBA 3.0, and now Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail. What can I do? Desperate Dear Desperate First keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an entertainment package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system. Try to enter the command: C:/I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME and download Tears 6.2 to install Guilt 3.0. If all works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5 but remember, overuse can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0, or Beer 6.1. Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will create Snoring Loudly WAV files. Whatever you do, DO NOT install Mother-in-law 1.0 or reinstall another Boyfriend program. These are not supported applications and will crash Husband 1.0. In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have a limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. I personally recommend Hot Food 3.0 and Lingerie 7.7. Good Luck! Tech Supp Quote

Freesex Plus and Cleanhouse 2000 don't seem to work with my copy of Wife 1.0. Instead, I've been running a copy of NoSex 2003 and HusbandClean 5.0. Life was easier when I was just running Old&ForeverAlone Pro. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Why not try the software I'm currently running: Old&ForeverAlone Pro? You need to keep in mind that many techs have reported that hardware lasts longer when using one of the various Wife programs. Then again, some techs contend that it just seems that way because of the required clock speed... Quote
maren Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Much like Husband 1.0, Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and is designed by its creator to run everything! It is also impossible to delete Wife 1.0 and return to Girlfriend 7.0. Hidden operating systems files cause Girlfriend 7.0 to emulate Wife 1.0, so nothing is gained. It is impossible to uninstall, delete, or purge the program files from the system once installed. You cannot go back to Girlfriend 7.0 because Wife 1.0 is designed to disallow this. Some have tried Girlfriend 8.0 or Wife 2.0 but end up with more problems than in the original system. Look in your Wife 1.0 manual under "Warnings - Alimony/Child Support." I recommend that you keep Wife 1.0 and work on improving the situation. I might suggest you read the entire section regarding General Partnership Faults (GPFs). You must assume all responsibility for faults and problems that might occur, regardless of their cause. The best course of action will be to enter the command C:\ APOLOGIZE. In any case avoid excessive use of the "Esc" key because ultimately you will have to give the APOLOGIZE command anyway before the operating system will return to normal. The system will run smoothly as long as you take the blame for all the GPFs. Wife 1.0 is a great program, but very high maintenance. Wife 1.0 comes with several support programs, such as Clean and Sweep 3.0, Cook It 1.5 (which replaces Burn It 1.0), Trash 4.0, and Do Bills 4.2. You must, however, be very careful how you use these programs. Improper use will cause the system to launch the program NagNag 9.5. Once this happens, the only way to improve the performance of Wife 1.0 is to purchase additional software. I recommend Flowers 2.1, Chocolates 5.0, Jewelry 4.0 or RomanticWeekend 1.0. Do not, under any circumstances, install ShortSkirtSecretary 3.3. This is not a supported application for Wife 1.0 and is likely to cause irreversible damage to the operating system. Quote
JSngry Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 I'm sure that somebody will suggest you try a Mac. They seem to NEVER have problems.... Quote

That's when Freesex Plus and Cleanhouse 2000 went on the fritz for me. I did try a Mac for a while, but I was frustrated by the lack of software for it. The only plug-in for Wife 1.0 (Mac Version) was Mother-in-law 2001 and Silent Treatment 2.0 - those applications didn't do much for me. Quote

Christiern Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 Switch back to the Mac and try Ho 2.0--it's a bit pricey, but it's remarkably virus free. Besides, it will perform multiple tasks and it comes with...well. Extreme Pleasure (the manual, not the hardware add-on). Quote
AfricaBrass Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 Thanks Chris! Maybe I should look into Mac's again. Quote
