felser Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere on the site. Received notification that BMG Music Service is going out of business on May 31. They will continue to run Yourmusic, but not the parent club. Too bad, because you could do a lot better through the club on multiple CD sets than through Yourmusic. I've belonged to them for about 20 years, and had belonged to Columbia Record/CD club for over 30 years, so it's going to feel strange to have neither around any more. Built a lot of my collection through those two clubs, especially Columbia, where you you could average under $5 per CD, tax and shipping included. Quote
BruceH Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 Just another sign that the physical encoding of music is being tossed into the dustbin of history. Quote
GA Russell Posted March 11, 2009 Report Posted March 11, 2009 I guess that means they won't reinstate my membership! Quote
Aggie87 Posted March 11, 2009 Report Posted March 11, 2009 I hope they'll re-energize themselves with yourmusic. I think it's doomed to a slow death if they don't start increasing their selection. I've got plenty in my queue there, but nothing that jumps out at me as must have stuff at the moment. Though part of that is due to all of the freebies that BMG has given us lately. Quote
Ron S Posted March 11, 2009 Report Posted March 11, 2009 I guess that means they won't reinstate my membership! Actually, that's the real reason they're shutting it down--so they won't have to reinstate you. Quote
