JSngry Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 My son hipped me to this a few months ago. I dig it, not least ofg all because it's only "retro" up to a point. There's an underlying hip-hop ethos to the production throughout, as well as little "cues" here and there in the vocals and lyrics that this guy is very much of his times. If old folks (white and otherwise) like me dig it, cool, but in no way are "we" the target audience. But hey, let's keep that a secret and let the guy sell to us anyway. Win-win, ya' know? Also did not know that he had been a member of Tony! Toni! Tone! That was a pretty interesting outfit at times, so this all makes more sense knowing that. Quote
