ejp626 Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 It must be something in the air. A couple of weeks ago, one of my closest friends came home to find his wife had taken her life. The Medical Examiner placed the time of her death as early morning which meant just after she dropped off their 2 year old son at the sitter. That's a terrible thing. And inconceivable to me. I sometimes have very dark thoughts, but anytime I get in such a deep funk I think about my children (4 and 2) and think about how much joy they bring into my life and how I need to be there for them. I wouldn't quite go so far as to say they saved my life (I was never that down), but they have brought much more light into it. Quote
Hot Ptah Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 In 2006, Marc Meyers, "Clifton", passed away. He was one of the most knowledgable people to participate in jazz forums and a truly good person. It appears that he did not post very much here. I first encoutered him on the ill fated Jazz Times forum, several years ago. Marc was a moderator and one of the best influences at All About Jazz. When he passed away, that board was never the same again. Many members of that board responded immediately with very heartfelt thoughts about him. This is an example of how many people can feel a genuine loss when a member of their online community passes away. Good God, I remember "Clifton"!!! I can't believe he's passed away! What the hell? If you are interested, there is a thread in the "About the Bulletin Board" section of the AAJ forum, about Clifton's illness, treatment, passing away, and the reactions of many people. Quote

Jazzmoose Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 I sometimes have very dark thoughts, but anytime I get in such a deep funk I think about my children (4 and 2) and think about how much joy they bring into my life and how I need to be there for them. I wouldn't quite go so far as to say they saved my life (I was never that down), but they have brought much more light into it. I can relate to that. I have been that far down, and, strange as it sounds, I couldn't go through with it because I couldn't abandon my cats. For some reason, even though I'm pretty much an athiest, and have no belief in an afterlife, deep down I'm still convinced that hell is reserved for people who abandon cats... Quote
