Just out of curiosity, I ordered this from Jazz Loft.

Then, as happened with the only previous order I did with them, it turns out the item is out of stock. Not good, enough, really. And I wasn't informed of this fact until about 3-4 days after I placed the order. I knows times is tough and all, but I'm wary and weary of retailers who continually keep stock numbers so low they can't fulfill orders. I cancelled the order. BTW, the set was NOT marked as a "special order", which Jazz Loft uses to indicate that something must be ordered in by them.

And it's about $10 cheaper at Dusty Groove anyhow!

Bu now I'm unsure, after reading a comment at Hoffman Forums by a punter who opined that this set was clearly the worst sounding of the Transparency releases.

No it is not the worst sounding Transparency release. Those Hoffman junkies are disappointed by anything that doesn't sound like the band is playing in your room. You can order directly from Transparency itself for the cheapest price.

I'm no shrinking violet when it comes to sound quality, so I'm sure it'll be fine.

I suspect also that like the Horizon CD I got this week, there'll long percussion segments that do tend to go on a bit - presumably while something visually arresting was happening with the band. Great if you're there, no so good for prolonged, regular listening.

But at that price and over six discs, that's not a problem either. And goes with the territory, eh?
