Tom Storer Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 She's so annoying, I'd be rude, too. Quote
JSngry Posted April 9, 2009 Author Report Posted April 9, 2009 She's a kid, basically, can't be over 18-19 or so. Full of fun, creativity, and energy, like my daughter. People like that should be encouraged, not discouraged. You're gonna get dark sooner or later, the more light you can keep and the longer you can keep it, so much the more better. Quote
BruceH Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 I agree. But I was a little surprised that the "current" generation of young women (that is, 18-22 year olds) still want guys to open doors for them. Wha? I thought that was considered oh-so-50's. I would tell her to give the guys a break on that; however, the OTHER things the guy did? What a jerk! Quote
JSngry Posted April 10, 2009 Author Report Posted April 10, 2009 But I was a little surprised that the "current" generation of young women (that is, 18-22 year olds) still want guys to open doors for them. Wha? I thought that was considered oh-so-50's. I've found that most women, hell, most people, appreciate acts of courtesy if you just go ahead and do it and not make a show out of it. Especially on a date. Especially on a date. Quote
BruceH Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 Well lemme tell ya, when I was coming up in the '70s, the word was that if you dared open a door for a girl she would probably nail you for gettin' all patriarchal on her ass. Of course, if you didn't, you ran the risk of being pilloried for having no courtesy and class. Damned either way. Quote

I know, they want to serve in military, vote, but you still can't hit 'em, oh and they also want you to open doors and pull out their chairs? Either be treated as equals or don't! Talk about having your cake and eating too... then having the guy do the dishes! :rsmile: Quote
papsrus Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 (edited) I love women. Kooky, crazy, fantastic creatures that they are. This girl sounds like she had all the receptors wide open for the guy. If he'd simply followed the age-old, handed-down-through-the-generations, first date protocol (be nice -- but not too nice -- and pay attention) he'd probably be having a lot more fun. Jim R Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 I liked her. Me too, and... uh... it looked to me like that was all in fun, an acting trial, a video-editing practice exercise. Didn't everybody watch the whole thing and see the bloopers at the end? I don't know if she wants guys to open doors or not. She may not know either, from the vibe I got from her. Anyway, she definitely reminds me of my daughter, who is now 21. She and my son like to make silly videos too, but this one had much better editing than the ones they've done. Well done! Quote
JSngry Posted April 10, 2009 Author Report Posted April 10, 2009 MUCH funny! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjQmFZ_CDt0...feature=channel Quote

I think getting there two hours late with (apparently) no apology or explanation was the first tip-off to what kind of guy this was. Quote
Van Basten II Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 Regarding the first video, i thought she was right and if i were her age i would dig her big time. A small tip, if you're not rich and far from being a hunk, good manners is still a plus if you don't want woman to beat you up with their purses or whatever they carry around. MUCH funny! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjQmFZ_CDt0...feature=channel Does not work. Quote

BruceH Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Wow, only 17 and that confident with her "artistic" attitude. You GO NDTitanLady! Just the sort of girl whom, at the age of 17, I would have THOUGHT about asking out, but would have been too scared to do so. Ah, high school... Quote

Of course, if you didn't, you ran the risk of being pilloried for having no courtesy and class. Damned either way. On the other hand, I remember holding a door open for a girl back in '78 who then informed her husband that she was leaving him because she'd found someone with a little class. I wish she'd talked to me about it first; I had already enlisted and was leaving for boot camp in a month. Quote

Just the sort of girl we didn't have in my semi-rural East Texas high school. Or if we did, it was a "country" version to which I was not attuned. Maybe I should have been... Oh well, all's well that ends well! Quote
.:.impossible Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 I don't know... I generally hold the door for perfect strangers, men and women alike. Just sort of customary I guess. Quote

Yes, I know what you mean. I feel if you happen to get to a door first, and there's someone right behind you, it isn't nice to just let it swing shut in their face. Quote
