papsrus Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 LINK Best thing in the paper today. He's a life coach now, whatever that is. Money quote: "I don't really think too much about the long term," he said. No kidding ... Quote
Dan Gould Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 Actually I think the money quote is he has been quietly working as a certified life coach for one of the most respected mental health practices in northern Virginia. There's a certification program for being a "life coach"? For those who don't recognize the name, this was the NYT reporter who got canned a few years ago for plagiarizing nearly everything he ever wrote for the Times. Quote

I'm all for second chances and everything, but "life coach?" First of all, wtf is it? Second of all, I would assume you might need some successful "life skills" of your own before you start coaching 'em up at the old mental heath clinic. Quote
J.A.W. Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 (edited) Wasn't Jayson Blair's case remarkably similar to what Stephen Glass did when he was with The New Republic in the 1990s? The name Janet Cooke (The Washington Post) also comes to mind Edited August 23, 2009 by J.A.W. Quote

The name Janet Cooke (The Washington Post) also comes to mind Yes. And why anyone would be dumb enough to take pointers on how to live their lives from either one of these characters is beyond me. Dave Garrett Posted August 24, 2009 Report Posted August 24, 2009 Yeah, no kidding. I'm all for second chances and everything, but "life coach?" First of all, wtf is it? Life Coaching Similar to "team building" in that both focus on behavior modification, with roots in biz-speak. Put more simply, "bullshit". Quote
