I think the best thing about Alec Baldwin is that he's learned not to take himself too seriously, much in the manner of William Shatner.

sorry, I'm always just too aware that he's "acting." Maybe he reminds me just a little too much of my old drama school days. Always seems like he's admiring himself in the mirror.

For me, the exact same thing could be said of Tom Cruise though I did enjoy him in "Collateral".
