Mark Stryker Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 (edited) Mel just nails this Sinatra impression on every level. Not only is the accent there ("ammbur," "puhpull") but the actual musicianship is really sophisticated -- his pitch, phrasing and modulations. On a related note, anyone know who the pianist was in the house band on the Cavett show? He's right on it here. Edited December 22, 2009 by Mark Stryker Quote

Mark Stryker Posted December 22, 2009 Author Report Posted December 22, 2009 Brill! When was that done? MG I'm guessing 1969. I think earlier in the interview they show a clip from "The Producers" so it's possible that it's '68 -- but I'm not certain. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 Thanks Mark. Thought he looked fairly young. MG Quote
Shrdlu Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 He sure is! Mark, that's a gem, and it also gives a link to his impressions of Bogie and Cagney. A few years back, an English channel (not to be confused with the English Channel, or Pete King) arranged a reunion of Sid Caesar and people, including Mel, who had been on his show. That was awesome. Mel recalled a time when he was walking through Manhattan with Sid and a group of nuns passed them. He said that Sid turned to them and said "You're out of the sketch". Quote
PHILLYQ Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Born Melvin Kaminsky in Brooklyn! He had a run of comedies with 'Blazing Saddles', "High Anxiety', "Silent Movie' and 'Young Frankenstein' that was unmatched. Quote
