GA Russell Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 Sony signed with eMusic last year. Now Warner has come on board. eMusic will not be given the new hits, however. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2357979,00.asp Quote

GA Russell Posted January 14, 2010 Author Report Posted January 14, 2010 mj, what is a credit worth? Quote
Free For All Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 They have the whole Mingus box set, "Passions of a Man," for only 12 credits. Also the Rahsaan "Does Your House Have Lions?" box. Same price. Quote
mjzee Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 mj, what is a credit worth? Well, I'm not a member anymore, so I probably don't have the most up-to-date information. When they wanted me to rejoin, they were offering 50 downloads per month for $20/month. Most albums are 12 credits, so that's roughly $5 an album. Some albums are 6 credits. The trick is, of course, that it's a subscription service: on some plans, you're free to drop out at any time, but on others, you're locked in for a year. On the other other hand, they offer an introductory bonus: 25 free downloads without an obligation (though you must give them your credit card first). So, a lot to weigh. You should take a look at the titles they have to offer: eMusic browse Quote
Peter Johnson Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 some of these are still working--thanks for the tips! Any other "deals"? Quote
WorldB3 Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 (edited) Still lots of deals to be had. The Mingus Box - Passions Of A Man The Complete Atlantic Recordings is still going for 12 credits which I grabbed last night. Neil Young - Decade, Emmylou Harris, Ry Cooder and Roland Kirk boxes are still all just 12. I also picked up - Television (The Complete Elektra Recordings) Marquee Moon-Adventure-Live At The Waldorf set and the 40 plus track Otis Redding - Otis Blue Otis Redding Sings Soul [Collector's Edition] for 12 credits each. The Nonsuch label also hit and the four hour Philip Glass - Music in 12 Parts is going for just 12 credits. For 12 "credits" each I downloaded Aretha's "Rare & Unreleased Recordings From The Golden Reign Of The Queen Of Soul" (35 tracks) and the Stooges "Funhouse" deluxe edition (21 tracks). The three demo's that open the Aretha set are mind blowing. Those are her Demo's!, would have loved to be in the room when those were heard for the first time over at Atlantic. Tom Storer Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 Alas, eMusic Europe doesn't get Warner or Nonesuch. At least not yet. Quote
