king ubu Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 (edited) Ok then, this is a first for me... I'm not going to turn into a semi-pro at selling stuff here, but I've been meaning to do this for quite a while, to get rid of *some* duplicates (I still can't part with some other stuff, though). I'll try and keep prices low, let me know if you see something that makes you think I'm out of my mind or anything... no offense intended! Covers are mostly in perfect condition, CDs are used ones, so they have some scratches... I'll try and put comments that seem accurate to me, but bear with me, I'm doing this the first time and have no idea of the business lingo! Shipping will be at cost. I will ship without jewel cases (except for the one sealed item, and the TOCJ if you badly need the white tray!) Payments would be preferred in Amazon or CDuniverse gift certificates, and accordingly I'd prefer to sell several discs at the time. I only have a free Paypal account, so I'm not sure I can accept payments from credit cards, so I'd prefer going the gift certificate route. I can't guarantee very fast shipping, but hey, we have time, don't we? Send me a PM and post a comment here, and in case my PM box gets filled up faster than I can empty up some space, send me an email! XXXX GONE XXXX first, something else though... Bud Shank/Bob Cooper - Mosaic Select 10 (3CD) I have a used copy (disc 2 has a minor scratch, the box is scuffed as all these Selects are because the cardboard boxes are too large... I always wondered why Mosaic doesn't produce them a little bit smaller... anyway, other than that it's in very good condition and unplayed since I bought it from an amazon marketplace seller for 53€). So here's the deal: I'll trade it for a new or similarly very good (booklet has to be excellent!) copy of the Lester Young 4CD set, which is readily in print, and costs 68$. We'd do this just straight, I send the Select, you order me the Pres (or send me your own box). I'm open for discussion, but I will NOT give the Shank/Coop away for any in-print Select! XXXX GONE XXXX Ok then, here we go with the sale... 25$ / 18€ - promo Curtis Amy - Katanga! (Blue Note "West Coast Classics", has some scratches but played fine the last time I listened to it... this goes for crazy prices on Ebay and Amazon Marketplace... still, if you think 25$ for a less than perfect one is too much, let me know! This had a promo sticker on the front booklet, which I was able to remove, it left only very small traces where it was.) 15$ / 11€ Dizzy Reece - Blues in Trinity (Connoisseur CD, some scratches) SOLD - Dizzy Reece - Star Bright (TOCJ, some scratches - let me know if you need that white tray...) Dizzy Reece - Comin' On (Connoisseur CD) both sold 10$ / 7€ - new, not sealed, but never played Warne Marsh-Lee Konitz Quintet - Live at the Club Montmartre, Vol. 1 (Storyville) Warne Marsh-Lee Konitz Quintet - Live at the Club Montmartre, Vol. 2 (Storyville) 8$ / 5€ Chet Baker - Plays Standards (Jazz in Paris, digipack, played only a couple of times) John Patton - Along Came John (Blue Note, 2000 edition, scratches) John Patton - Accent on the Blues (Blue Note, Amazon.com CDR, unplayed) Count Basie - Blues by Basie (Columbia, straight reissue of the 1950 LP, selections from 1938-1950) - ON HOLD - Kenny Dorham - 'Round About Midnight at the Cafe Bohemia (2CD, old version, 1995) Albert Ayler - Spiritual Unity (ESP, Abraxas edition, with paper to fold around jewel case) Grachan Moncur III - Some Other Stuff (Connoisseur CD, some minor scratches) SOLD - Jackie McLean - Destination Out (Connoisseur CD, some minor scratches) 5$ / 3.5€ - SEALED Dave Brubeck - Three Classic Albums Plus (Avid 2CD, contains Jazz Red Hot & Cool, Newport 1958, Jazz Goes to Junior College plus St. Louis Blues from the first Timex All Star Jazz Festival) 4$ / 3€ - new but not sealed, cut-outs (Telarc Archive twofers) Erroll Garner - Dreamstreet & One World Concert Erroll Garner - That's My Kick & Gemini Erroll Garner - Magician & Gershwin and Kern - get all three for 10$/7€ - then, on to the cheap stuff... 4$ / 3€ Pat Metheny / Ornette Coleman - Song X (Geffen, old version, played once or twice) Bill Evans - You Must Believe in Spring (Warner Bros. Masters digipack, without bonus tracks, played once or twice) a couple of old BNs: Hank Mobley - Workout (some scratches) Hank Mobley - Soul Station (some scratches) and a longer list of old OJCs (Mikulski and ZYX mostly or all, and most may have some minor scratches): Cannnonball Adderley - Quintet in San Francisco John Coltrane - Lush Life John Coltrane - Traneing In John Coltrane - Settin' the Pace John Coltrane - The Believer Thelonious Monk - Monk's Music Thelonios Monk - with John Coltrane The Quintet - Jazz at Massey Hall (Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Bud Powell, Charles Mingus, Max Roach) Sonny Stitt - Kaleidoscope Frank Wess/John Coltrane/Paul Quinichette/Mal Waldron/Doug Watkins/Art Taylor - Wheelin' and Dealin' and finally some rock: 5$ / 3.5€ - played once or twice - all old versions! The Grateful Dead The Grateful Dead - Live/Dead The Grateful Dead - Workingman's Dead - get all 3 for 13$/9.5€ - 7$/5€ - old version, some scratches Bob Dylan & The Band - The Basement Tapes (2CD) -------------- shipping estimates (all for stuff without cases, it may get a bit more for the digipacks and plenty more if you want the Dylan w/case, otherwise it would be in the 9€/18$ category!) 1CD (if I manage to stay under 50g) = 1.65€ / 3.3$ 2-3CD (less than 100g) = 2.5€ / 4.5$ 8CD (less than 250g) = 4.5€ / 8$ up to 500g = 9€ / 18$ (prices to Europe / US etc respectively) Edited April 18, 2010 by king ubu Quote
king ubu Posted February 11, 2010 Author Report Posted February 11, 2010 up for some air... Destination Out and Star Bright are gone (both shipped), the two Konitz/Marsh discs are on hold. Quote
rivieraranch Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 Why would you ship without jewel cases? Quote
Aggie87 Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 Why would you ship without jewel cases? Assuming this is a sincere question, it makes sense when you're shipping internationally. It saves a significant amount of postage expense. Quote
king ubu Posted February 19, 2010 Author Report Posted February 19, 2010 Yes indeed - I can ship three discs without jewel case for the price of one disc with jewel case. Makes sense to me! I got stuff from other guys here in all conditions and shapes, with cases, without cases, with multiple discs packed into one case, etc etc... all's fine with me! Quote
king ubu Posted February 19, 2010 Author Report Posted February 19, 2010 up again... I got a Pacific Piano Trios set coming to me (I hope... didn't hear from the seller) from ebay soon. We'd do this just straight, I send the Select, you order me the Pres (or send me your own box). I'd also be willing to give away the new and sealed copy I have in trade for a new or excellent condition Pres set. If you have any other offer to make, drop me a line! Quote

It saves a significant amount of postage expense. I really did not realize how much it costs to mail the jewel boxes internationally. I recently ordered some replacement jewel boxes and was struck by how flimsy they were. I guesss they are all fungible to a large extent. Quote

Yeah, there are various kinds of replacement jewel cases, and usually they're packed and labelled and priced the same, but they come in varying quality! That does suck now and then, but still, shipping w/cases can get ridiculously pricy very fast, if it's not within Europe (but even there, you'll quickly note the difference, it's the same price to ship 1CD w/case as 3CDs w/out them!) AndrewHill Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 Someone should grab that Katanga! disk, as its one of the rarest of the WCC's and one of the best sessions from that series as well. Quote
king ubu Posted February 21, 2010 Author Report Posted February 21, 2010 Yes... the total lack of interest is somewhat disappointing... can't be the prices, I guess... Would also have expected some offers for the Shank/Cooper set, but then most here seem to think 80 or 90$ way too much for a Select, while I was ready without the slightest reluctancy to pay that much or more for the ones that disappeared last year...
