Tom 1960 Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 (edited) Ok, it's my guilty pleasure. Anyone here as obsessed with this program as I am? Man V Food Edited May 15, 2010 by Tom 1960 Quote
Free For All Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 I will admit I do enjoy it. Although in an attempt to outdo himself each season, he will probably die soon. Quote
JSngry Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 I enjoy it too, but only up to a point. I'm (too often) a heavy eater myself, so I know what it feels like to push yourself past the point of being as full as you even want to be, and I tell you, it's not a good thing to do, physically, morally, or spiritually. I've learned how not to do that, but too late, as I'm now at a weith that's too much for my own good, and I've been able to lose only so much of it before plateauing out. 285 and 6'1" is far from the worse you can be, but it's not anything to be complacent, much less happy, about either. Gluttony, that's one of the "Seven Deadly Sins", isn't it? There's a part of me that feels like this show is classic "seducytion by the devil", making something that most of us know is wrong appear "entertaining", and therefore letting us "drop our guard", self-discipline, whatever. Ok, moralizing over. Quote
Dave James Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Oh yeah, I love this show. Mostly because of Adam Richman. It's hard not to like the guy, he has a great personality. You can tell by how people react to him. I also like learning about the history of many of the restaurants he visits. I have no idea where he puts the food. He's not that big. Interestingly enough, he has a Masters degree from the Yale School of Drama. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 I thought the show was lame the few times I saw it. He never even gets close to finishing anything he eats. So what's the point? Quote
JSngry Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 I've seen him finish more than once...hard to say which outcome makes me more uncomfortable... Quote
Dave James Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Since the show began, Richman has just over a 60% success rate. Quote
