chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 my copy has side 2 label on side 1 and side 1 label on side two! i am clearly listening to jitterbug waltz but the label side says side two and i should be listening to alone togetherand tyheres a pic on the inside foldout, i think dolphys playing a wurlitzer electric piano, no joking Quote
Gheorghe Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 When I was still a starter and wanted to purchase some Dolphy, I got a strange album from the obscure label "Trip Records". It had Jitterbug Waltz, Music Matador, Alone Together on it and was very short, and quite an ugly cover, bad pressing etc. Obviously a bootleg. Since I liked the music, I later purchased a CD with those tunes. Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted May 16, 2010 Author Report Posted May 16, 2010 yes, this ones been passed around a lot Quote
kh1958 Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Trip Records was not a bootleg label (as far as I've ever heard). It was a cheapo reissue label that licensed many jazz reissues back in the 1970s. They were all over the place; poor pressings but great music. Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted May 16, 2010 Author Report Posted May 16, 2010 (edited) yea- poor pressings but great music!!!!!! what they lack in manufacturing, they make up for in content! Edited May 16, 2010 by chewy Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Yes - Trip did a lot of Mercury and Vee-Jay material - lots of VJ gospel stuff. Not boots, but cheapo pressings. I think Paul Winley had something to do with the firm. MG Quote
