chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 (edited) http://991.com/newGa...ound-442299.jpg heyy, ok: i got this lp: mind you, the weird int'l logo or whatever in the pic, replace that with a regular american prestige sixties "swirly-q" thing or whatever it was, anyways this thread has NOTHING to do w/ the cover: my q. is the labels, okokok they are the older silver labels....but the covers so 60s, and the vinyl is so 60s, being thinner and floppier, etal, but the labels...are they 'throwback' or are they really old stock like blue note did using up old stuff but that doesnt seem plasuble in the timeframe, i dont know these things--so yea the labels are conciernng- the vinyl is stamped, and labels printed, w/ the same # on the cover PR7311 there is NO other scratched-thru numbers present, so rudy re-cut it, right? WELL THERE ARE SOME OTHER WEIRD SYMBOLS ON IT: to i dont have it out right now to look at cause its playing, but listen to me: there are a few more markings, kind of like, a more abstract artists rendering of the Capitol Winchester plant logo i have never seen this on a vangelder lp before! so the one w/ the green cover, that was the NEWJAZZ one, and this was the regular prestige issue? why didnt they reuse the newjazz stamper plates and scratch out the matrix nos. and be all chill about it like they used to Edited January 4, 2011 by chewy Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted January 4, 2011 Author Report Posted January 4, 2011 mine is like nothing like all the issues of this on popsike, there are quite a few, but mine is the old silver grey label Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted January 4, 2011 Author Report Posted January 4, 2011 wait was the new jazz mono, cause the labels and cover say stereo, but not elec. reprocesses to simulate stereo...is the a stereo cut for the 1st time, or ? Quote
brownie Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 (edited) Looks like what you have is the English release of that Dolphy album, on the Transatlantic label. Edited January 4, 2011 by brownie Quote
sidewinder Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 Yes, that's the Transatlantic. The first UK issue would be on Esquire. Those Transatlantics can sound really excellent - as with the case of the Rollins/Brown/Roach I picked up the other week. Quote
