first let me say - i do not know if this even exists. I read about it in Whitney Balliett's book.

July 7, 1968 Ramsey Lewis opens. Then a vocal trio called the "Sound of Feeling" folowed by RRK for 6 numbers!!! Next comes Don Ellis with a 19 piece band. and Finally the Ray Charles concert begins. First a dozen numbers by his big band. next his vocal quartet (the Raelets) followed by Billy Preston.

and then Ray!

he performs 17 numbers including his anthem (Georgia on my mind) Marie, Yesterday and Eleanor Rigby! other numbers include Let's go get Stoned, You are my Sunshine and finishing off with What'd I Say!

I really would love to hear this concert. Any ideas if i can make this happen?

:excited:

It could pop out at Wolfgang's Vault?

Also, if that festival was recorded by the Voice of America, it could be at the Library of Congress.

Not if Ray Charles performed Beatles songs and the Don Ellis big band was there too. Then 1968 sounds right.
