Justin V
Did they ever record together? I know they came from different periods of Detroit's jazz history, but it'd be surprising if they never recorded or performed together at some point. Mark Stryker
Excellent question. In terms of recordings, nothing comes to mind and this Joe Henderson discography lists nothing with Hank. http://www.jazzdiscography.com/Artists/Henderson/JoeHenderson.html On the other hand, I'd be shocked if they didn't share the bandstand somewhere under some all-star circumstance. marcello
Nothing that I know of. There was a European tour with Tommy Flanagan ( with George Mraz on bass, who told me a funny road story about Joe Hen the other night), but none with Hank Jones. sonnymax
There's a live recording of them performing Now's The Time together, along with Roy Hargrove, J.J. Johnson, Jackie McLean, Kenny Burrell, Ray Brown and Kenny Washington. The concert took place at Carnegie Hall on April 6, 1994, and was released on Carnegie Hall Salutes The Jazz Masters: Verve 50th Anniversary.
